A senior US marine commander tells Rhod that the Philippines aid effort is being stepped up to a level 'probably never been applied' to a humanitarian disaster before.
The top US commander in the Philippines says the American aid effort to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan is reaching unprecedented levels. Brigadier General Paul Kennedy tells Rhod the aircraft carrier, George Washington, has been sent to help with the search and rescue operation.
