MPs have said that the taxpayer is being "ripped off" over the cost of rolling out broadband to rural areas of the UK. The Commons Public Accounts Committee (PAC) says the government "mismanaged" the project and the scheme was now costing councils across the UK an additional £230million - the equivalent of nearly £20 per household.
