Clare Balding hosts the topical faith show and talks to Heather Small, lead singer of the band M People, who are about to embark on their 20th Anniversary Tour. There's live music from Martin Smith, former lead singer with the Christian worship band Delirious?, who's just released his first solo album "God's Great Dancefloor". Clare's faith guest is the Rev'd Ruth Scott.

Heather Small

Heather Small’s distinctive voice helped the band M People shoot to fame in the 1990s with hits like “Moving on Up” “Search for the Hero” and “One Night in Heaven”. With their 1993 album “Elegant Slumming” they picked up a Brit Award and a Mercury Prize. Now M People are back on the road to celebrate with their 20th Anniversary Greatest Hits Tour. Heather talks to Clare about her career with M People, growing up in London as the daughter of Caribbean parents, and the importance of faith in her life.

Martin Smith was formerly the lead singer with the Christian rock group Delirious? His first solo album "God's Great Dance Floor" is out on 30th September.
Richard Whitehead

British double leg amputee and Paralympic Gold medallist, Richard Whitehead, is running a marathon a day this summer from John O'Groats to Land's End, to raise money for charity. The run started on August 13th and finishes tomorrow (September 23rd) – by which time Richard will have covered a staggering 977 miles (1572km)
Rev'd Ruth Scott

Ruth trained as a nurse and midwife, and worked as a counsellor before being ordained priest in the Church of England in 1994, one of the first women to do so. She has a first class honours degree in theology and a masters, but is also trained in mime and physical theatre. Over recent years she has become increasingly involved in interfaith dialogue, as well as regular broadcasting work with the BBC.
She also brings our Moment of Reflection.
