The 1950s is a potentially overlooked period when it comes to modern collectables. It’s true that some furniture designers from that time are considered design classics but Eames, Robin Day and Arne Jacobsen are beyond most budgets. 


Keep your eyes open for smaller items: pottery from the 1950s is still relatively inexpensive. And don’t forget the 1970s: distinctive but currently unfashionable pieces will have their day!
