Princess Iselda is betrothed to the old King, but doesn't want to marry him. When his son arrives to collect her, she takes drastic action - in this traveller's tale told by Guy.

14th-century France: in the mysterious Forest of Lussac, fleeing plague and war, five travellers (Guy, Constance, Gerard, Dame Ghislaine and Joan) tell tales to dispel the night shadows. But outside the firelight someone else is listening...
