Winner in 2011 Luke Donald had a share of the lead at the halfway stage last year, alongside Italian teenager Matteo Manassero and Spain's Alvaro Quiros.
Donald will again start among the favourites, having recently been locked in a three-way battle for the world number one spot with fellow Englishman Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland.
