Penny Gore and Louise Fryer this week explore theatre music written for Shakespeare's plays. Today, the BBC Symphony Orchestra is joined by a team of actors live at their Maida Vale Studios in incidental music by three contrasting composers united by the lure of Shakespeare. That's followed by the impressive apprentice piece by the young Arthur Sullivan and by one of the most famous of all Shakespearean treatments: Serge Prokofiev's ballet music for Romeo and Juliet.
