BBC Concert Orchestra Celebrating 60
Ken Bruce salutes the BBC Concert Orchestra on their 60th anniversary - tonight's archive concert from July 1982 features Ron Goodwin, Moira Anderson and Matt Monro.
Ken Bruce continues his trawl through the music archives of the BBC Concert Orchestra in their 60th anniversary year. This week's featured archive concert dates from 31 July 1982 during a BBC Concert Orchestra tour of the Channel Islands.
It was a gala occasion from the Gloucester Hall, Fort Regent in Jersey presented by John Craven; conducted by Ron Goodwin and featuring two very special singing guests - Moira Anderson and Matt Monro.
Ron Goodwin conducts music to his great film scores for Where Eagles Dare; Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines and The Battle of Britain. Moira Anderson recalls the hits of Deanna Durbin and songs from Ivor Novello's The Dancing Years and the great Matt Monro's song selection includes - three of his greatest hits - From Russia with Love; On Days Like These and Born Free.
