Donald Macleod looks at the National Romantic movement in Finland through the music of two of Sibelius' contemporaries, Kuula and Madetoja, who both drew on folksong in their works. And with the help of Tim Howell, author of 'After Sibelius', he explores a recent opera which deals with the events of 1907, as Finland elected its first parliament.
