Ken Bruce presents the multilingual 12-piece ensemble Pink Martini, performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall.

Friday Night Is Music Night features Pink Martini performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra at The Royal Albert Hall earlier this week.

Founded by the classically trained pianist Thomas M Lauderdale in 1994, the twelve-piece ensemble performs its multilingual repertoire on concert stages, and with symphony orchestras around the world.

They've been described as somewhere between a 1930s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber music ensemble, a Brazilian marching street band and Japanese film noir. Lauderdale describes them as "a rollicking around-the-world musical adventure... if the United Nations had a house band in 1962, hopefully we'd be that band."

For this performance Pink Martini are joined by vocalist Storm Large and Ken Bruce presents for Radio 2.
