Classic Scottish Songbook
A Zone celebrating the Classic Scottish Songbook featuring the stories behind Ae Fond Kiss, Loch Lomond, The Skye Boat Song and Auld Lang Syne.
John Cavanagh introduces a Zone celebrating the Classic Scottish Songbook.
Among the tunes included are the Border ballad "The Dowie Dens O' Yarrow", the Robert Burns songs "Auld Lang Syne" and "My Luve's Like A Red Red Rose" and the Hamish Henderson composition "Freedom Come All Ye". Elsewhere we'll look into the tradition of the Bothy Ballads and hear how many staples of Scottish song weren't even penned by Scots.
