BBC SSO under Martyn Brabbins. Mozart: Overture (Der Schauspieldirektor). Liszt: Piano Concerto No 1. Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade. Dillon: La navette. Tchaikovsky: Symphony No 2.

With Louise Fryer

Marking the 75th anniversary of the formation of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, this Prom recreates the programme from 1962 when they first appeared at the Proms, with the addition of the UK premiere of James Dillon's single-movement 'La navette' which weaves string and woodwind textures across a sturdy framework of brass and percussion. A Mozart overture and two perennial Russian favourites are complemented by Liszt's virtuosic showpiece concerto with pianist Boris Giltburg. Presented by Martin Handley.
