1. Gay Bar in Brighton
Episode 1 of 5
Visiting pubs with the Queen's name, Lemn Sissay meets her subjects: a lesbian anarchist and a male voice choir. From 2006.
To mark the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, Lemn Sissay begins an arduous journey in search of the hopes, fears and foibles of Her Majesty's subjects - as seen through the bottom of a pint glass in pubs that bear her name.
At The Queen's Head in Brighton, the female-impersonating landlord has replaced the pub sign with a picture of Freddie Mercury.
Lemn finds a lesbian anarchist, a male voice choir and a man who believed the Queen was his mother.
