Ken Bruce presents Friday Night is Music Night from Television Centre in London. For the first time the BBC Concert Orchestra broadcast their regular Friday Night radio show from the BBC TV's west London base - Television Centre. No cameras allowed but the orchestra pay a gentle nod to the history of the studios with Robert Farnon's tv sig tune medley - "Sounds Familiar". Guests include soprano Natasha Marsh and tenor James Edwards - who pay a birthday tribute to the music of Stephen Sondheim - celebrating his 80th birthday on Tuesday. And finally as we are just past St Patrick's Day the resident band from Mayfair's Punch Bowl pub - the Punch Bowl Band make their Friday Night is Music Night debut for some traditional Irish jigs and reels.
