From the Barbican, London. Presented by Martin Handley.

The BBC Symphony Orchestra perform under young British composer/conductor Ryan Wigglesworth. Although only just 30, he has already forged an international reputation for himself and has been developing a partnership with the this orchestra. The world premiere of his orchestral song cycle Augenlieder follows a dramatic overture by Beethoven and Stravinsky's strikingly original Symphonies of Wind Instruments, which has its foundations in Russian Orthodox Church music.
