5. Human Cannonball

Byron Rogers with unlikely heroes - a witchcraft trial judge and a man who gets shot out of a cannon. Concluded by Crawford Logan.

An old woman is accused of witchcraft - more specifically, flying.

She admits it, thus "condemning herself to the gallows". But the judge, Sir John Powell, declares that there is no law against flying...

And centuries later, it's a wet evening on Wanstead Flats in east London, where Gerry Cottle's Circus is in residence.

A Hungarian man is shot out of a cannon, where he falls (not lands) 90 ft away.

These men are the subject of Byron Rogers’ musings in his final foray into his heroes.
