Highlights of the Triathlon World Championships in Vancouver, which attracted more than 3,000 athletes from 45 countries. Triathlon has only been an Olympic discipline since 2000 but the sport dates back to the 1970s and these were the 20th World Championships. With the 2008 Olympics less than two months away, the Canada event marked an excellent opportunity to assess the form of the leading contenders for the Beijing Games.
