When Inspector Alan Grant takes a train to the Highlands, a man's body is found. Paul Young reads Josephine Tey's mystery.

Crippled by claustrophobic panic attacks, Inspector Alan Grant is on compulsory leave from his beloved Scotland Yard.

But when he arrives in the Scottish Highlands, a body is discovered n an adjoining sleeper.

The dead man had been drinking heavily and left a poem scrawled in the margin of a newspaper:

"The beasts that talk,
The streams that stand,
The stones that walk,
The singing sands
That guard the way
To Paradise"
