Twelve boys and girls live as 1940s war evacuees. The whole house gathers to hear a special radio announcement from the prime minister: the war in Europe is finally over. The evacuees attend church for a thanksgiving service, then return to Pradoe Hall for an emotional reunion with their parents. Eventually the time comes to change out of the war time clothes and leave Pradoe Hall for good.
