Lynda becomes the Social Secretary.

As they arrange chairs for the ball, a stressed Elizabeth tells Nigel that she told Shula about Kathy's rape. She breaks down when she recounts how Kenton spoke to her - and worries that he won't ever forgive her.

Kathy feels bad about avoiding Lower Loxley - but Kenton tells her not to. Lynda tries to drum up support for her New Year's Eve party. David accepts, and Kathy and Kenton finally decide to go - while Jim changes the Hebden Lloyds' plans by accepting Lynda's invitation.
