Lewis 'Lew' Griffin is a busy man in New Orleans.
He is meant to be a university lecturer in English literature who is writing a novel. But every so often he is persuaded to turn detective.
He now has a number of mysteries going on all at once.
A man has left hospital claiming to be him, and he's agreed to help a student find his brother - and his neighbours want him to sort out the local hoodlums problem too.
