Jiri Belohlavek conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra, performing Walton's Overture 'Portsmouth Point', Elgar's Cello Concerto and Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
From the Royal Albert Hall the 113th Proms season is launched with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the baton of their chief conductor Jiri Belohlavek. Marking 150th anniversary of Elgar, Paul Watkins is the soloist in his much loved Cello Concerto. Beethoven's life affirming 9th Symphony - the Choral - makes an historic appearance at a First Night, and the whole season gets under way with William Walton's Overture 'Portsmouth Point'.
