Sex and Sensibility

Documentary series exploring British India under the Raj. Raj society was based on a formal order of precedence, but behind the scenes there was a great deal of flirtation, fun, affairs and misdemeanours.

This programme tells the story of how young British women sailed out to British India in the hope of finding a husband, and visits the decadent hill station of Mussoorie, where the prestige of the Raj was discreetly maintained in the local hotels where lovers would meet.
