Mike gives Lilian a dance lesson and is awkward when Lilian comments on how elusive he's been lately. When Lilian suggests learning rock and roll, Mike tries to steer her towards salsa and a salsa club in town, but she doesn't take the bait. Mike's initially terrified when Lilian comments on how close they've grown over the last few weeks but is relieved when she says that's why she's going to help him find a lady friend. When Mike says that Roy already thinks Lilian's his girlfriend, she goes into peals of laughter. Him and her, that's the funniest thing she's heard for years.

Tensions are high at Home Farm as Jennifer and Brian tell Alice about Ruairi coming to live with them. Alice is absolutely appalled and can't believe that Jennifer's letting Brian get away with it. She's even more upset when she learns that everyone knew about it before her. She storms off to her bedroom telling them to leave her alone.

Later, when Jennifer tries to explain to Alice that she agreed to having Ruairi because she thought it was the only way to keep the family together, Alice shouts she hasn't got a family any more and slams the door in Jennifer's face.
