It's a dark day for Brian and Jennifer.

Jennifer and Alice have called on Lynda. Alice is besotted with Salieri, the new baby llama, and wants Jennifer to see him. Lynda is able to update Jennifer on the churchyard project, and the various sightings of flowers and birds. She's been irritated by the ridiculous claims stated in the book at the back of church, which include sightings of a yeti. Jennifer thinks that Salieri is gorgeous and isn't surprised to hear that Lynda has sent a letter about his birth to Borsetshire Life.

Elizabeth has been buying presents to take back to the twins but because Siobhan is so ill she's decided to stay on in Dublin for a while; it's obviously not going to be long. On their way to see Siobhan, Brian spots Father Michael's car outside the house. They weren't expecting him. Brian is horrified to learn that Siobhan has died, with only the nurse present. Brian is devastated that he didn't get to say goodbye. Elizabeth tries to comfort him but he's inconsolable, sitting by Siobhan's bed and telling her that he loves her and will be strong for Ruairi, giving him all the love that she can't any more.
