Charles Paris is a middle-aged actor down on his luck, but his whole life is to change after a chance meeting with a chorus girl named Jacqui.

Assuming a variety of roles, the lothario thespian employs his skills to try and solve a murder.

Francis Matthews stars as actor-cum-sleuth, Charles Paris.

Set during the UK's winter fuel crisis of 1973.

Dramatised in six parts by Simon Brett from his thriller novel.
