Drama series about a fictional parapsychology unit at a university and the team's endeavours to explain the seemingly inexplicable. Professor Monaghan arrives at a remote Scottish country house to investigate some paintings which are linked to a Victorian spiritualist group. Karen, the newly-bereaved owner of the mansion, becomes convinced that a malevolent presence is emerging there. She tells Monaghan of her visions and he starts to uncover sinister evidence in the history of the house.
