Adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of a young girl's quest to rescue a friend from the icy clutches of the dreaded Snow Queen.

Kay is rescued from the street by Gerda and his mother, and the two children become firm friends. Then a fragment of ice penetrates the boy's eye and his heart is turned cold, allowing the Snow Queen to sweep him away to her frozen palace. Gerda must embark on a magical journey to try and rescue him.
