Jack gets a change of scene.

Peggy takes Jack for his first time at the Day Centre. Jack is very troubled by it all, but does very well once he's there. When he gets home he can't remember anything about it, and Peggy tries to remind him.

Clarrie comes upon Eddie practising his cry in the garden, and tells him he'll disturb the ferrets. But he also finds out that she admires someone she saw once in full town crier gear.

Ed goes off to Borchester to buy a present for George's birthday. He gets a really lovely tractor and trailer full of bricks. Clarrie thinks it's great, but when she asks Ed to give it to George himself, Ed refuses point blank.
