Brian's having his cake and eating it.

Jennifer makes a faux pas with Brenda when she expresses disbelief that Chris Carter could be going out with someone with Venetia's breeding. Unimpressed Brenda is quick to put her right. Jennifer says that she'll be asking Roy if she can have Phoebe on a different day this week, as the family will be looking at day centres for Jack.

Jennifer bakes cakes for Brian to take to Debbie in Hungary. Brian tells Jennifer that he'll be coming home via Brussels. Jennifer is unconcerned - but Brian's 'factory visit' is obviously a façade.

Brenda asks Helen's advice on a birthday present for Tom. Keen to help, Helen suggests that she cook them a romantic meal, and ensure that they can have Bridge Farm to themselves for the evening. Helen comments that her counselling's going well.

Ruth and David take the kids to a theme park for Pip's birthday. The family outing is a success, and later that evening, Ruth falls asleep on the sofa. David suggests that they have an early night, and for a moment, Ruth misunderstands him - but it soon becomes clear that David is only thinking of Ruth having to get up early for the cows tomorrow.
