Get your teeth into creative wisdoms
Run by leading artists and home to Britain’s oldest art school, the Royal Academy has been championing the practise of contemporary art since 1768. In the run up to the Summer Exhibition – the world’s oldest open submission exhibition – the Get Creative champion has been asking the artists at the heart of the RA for the #CreativeWisdom they’ve found along their artistic journeys.
Across their website and social media channels, Royal Academicians such as Cornelia Parker and Michael Landy have been revealing their feelings on what it is to be an artist, and sharing advice and encouragement to anyone beginning a creative project.
As well as the nuggets of creative inspiration, the Royal Academy has published on its website a series of articles and interviews with Academicians which could help aspiring artists to nurture their talent.
Michael Landy explains why young artists need a thick skin, while Michael Craig Martin, who co-ordinated this year's Summer Exhibition, offers his insights into getting into the art world.
