The Culture Studio Gets Creative

The Culture Studio - BBC Radio Scotland's daily look at what's happening in arts, culture and music across the country, presented by Janice Forsyth - is getting behind Get Creative in a big way.

A host of special features and interviews are runing from 19-27 February, looking at all aspects of the campaign. Here's what's happening - click on the links to listen back to past shows.

Thursday 19 February
To tie in with the launch of Get Creative Jemma Neville of Voluntary Arts Scotland samples a range of activities on her doorstep including a rapper dance troupe, a writers’ group and a life drawing class.
Friday 20 February
Lachlan Goudie, artist and judge on BBC One series The Big Painting Challenge, and Rosa Roberts, author of the book to accompany the series, tell Janice more about getting creative with a paintbrush.
Monday 23 February
Jemma Neville, head of Voluntary Arts Scotland, helps us launch a week of Get Creative coverage along with Iona Barker - former costume designer to the stars, who gave up the day job and now runs voluntary sewing groups. Plus an interview with two young people who volunteered at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and have since got involved with a local roller dance project.
Tuesday 24 February
Janice talks to two members of over-60s dance group 24 Carat Gold along with dance critic Kelly Apter.
Wednesday 25 February
It’s the turn of the men: we hear from the Wise Guys printmakers scheme based at the Highland Print Studio in Inverness.
Thursday 26 February
We shine a spotlight on teenagers from the Merkinch Theatre Group, Inverness.
Friday 27 February
A discussion on the challenges of running arts venues outside big cities. How do you attract the best talent and how do you encourage local communities to engage with what's on their doorstep?
