Frequently Asked Questions
A list of frequently used terms and questions about BBC Get Creative.
Where can I submit my creative work?
We’re asking people to share pictures of their work on popular social media outlets using the hashtag #getcreative.
So that you know what we might do with your work, by using the hashtag you grant the BBC an irrevocable royalty-free licence to publish any such materials in all media in perpetuity, and you warrant that it’s your own original work or that you have the permission of the original creator to pass it on, is not defamatory or unlawful and does not infringe anyone else’s rights (including privacy rights).
We’ll showcase as much as we can but we can’t show everything and we won’t publish content or information if it is not editorially suitable or appropriate to do so (including but not limited to not meeting the Editorial Guidelines).
Before sharing any content of children, you should obtain written consent from the parents/guardians of any children (under the age of 18 years) featured in any such content.
What about copyright?
By creating a project, you have created your own copyright. If you have incorporated other people’s copyright in your creative work, please ensure you have asked for their permission. Find out everything about how to protect your own copyright and how to seek permission to use the copyright works of others here.
Can I use Get Creative to send programme and script ideas to the BBC?
Thank you but no. If you want to send a programme or script idea to the BBC there are established processes to follow. Here’s more information on how. If, however, you want to share a piece of creative writing with Get Creative then please do so on social media using #bbcgetcreative.
I run an arts organisation, how do I set up a Get Creative event?
Go here. Already signed up? Make sure you update your website with the creative activities and events that you run. Encourage your members to share their work on social media sites using #getcreative and keep [email protected] informed of special events that you think could be featured on the Get Creative homepage.
Good luck with developing and delivering your creative activity in your locality! Let us know how your project develops and send in photographs, etc.
Is there a logo/graphic that we can use on our website/newsletter/brochure?
Yes, we have created some graphics that can be used on websites, newsletters and paperwork.
Once your organisation has signed up as a Get Creative Champion, we’ll send you the branding pack. Please make sure you read the terms and conditions to see where and how the logo and branding can be used.
How do I contact the Get Creative team?
Send an email to [email protected]. We'll do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
What age group is Get Creative aimed at?
We’re hoping all ages will want to get involved but please adhere to the age limits of social media sites when sharing your work.
