Please note the submission period for Radio 2's Young Folk Award 2015 has now closed.
Radio 2's annual search for new folk talent, which has been a launch pad for acts including Bella Hardy, Jackie Oates and Jim Moray, returns for 2015.
Ten successful entries will be invited to attend the Young Folk Award Weekend on 23–25 January 2015 in Kendal. This residential weekend includes workshops led by professional musicians and a public concert.
At the end of this weekend a panel of judges will select four acts to become the nominees for the 2015 Young Folk Award.
Those nominees will be invited to the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in April 2015, where the winner will be announced.
The winner of the 2015 Young Folk Award will win slots at three major UK folk festivals: Cambridge Folk Festival, Towersey Festival and Fairport’s Cropredy Convention. They will also receive a year’s free membership of the Musician’s Union, and the chance to play live on Mark Radcliffe’s Radio 2 Folk Show.
