BBC Radio Scotland at 40
BBC Radio Scotland turns 40 on the 23 November!
We’re looking back at the many great comedy talents who had their first “big break” with the station in the two part series "Radio Roots"; Reflecting with our audience who are also turning 40 about where they are in their lives now and remembering the vibrant disco scene of “Saturday Night Fever” which greeted our new station when it first took to the air in November 1978 with Boogie Nichts.
The Afternoon Show on Friday devotes a whole programme to the names and voices we’ve known and loved through the years. We’ll also be broadcasting, on radio and tv a big musical ceilidh party we held at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. To round the weekend off, we’re re-joined by the legend that is Robbie Shepherd, for a very special edition of The Reel Blend.
