Lord of Misrule: a day of comedy on Radio 4

On Saturday 7 January, BBC Radio 4 lifts the post Christmas gloom with a special day filled with comedy. Inspired by the Shakespearean spirit of the Lord of Misrule, when sober authority figures were compelled to obey the village idiot...

So for one day only the Radio 4 Saturday schedule is taken over by comedy. Among the highlights, Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis do their own version of Twelfth Night, with The Now Show: Now the Twelfth Night Show at 2.30pm, Angus Deayton stars in Alone at 3.30pm, Sue Perkins takes the reins of a panel show looking back at the headlines in 2016, Hold the Front Page,Time Spanner is a time-travelling comedy adventure starring David Mitchell at 4.30pm, Harry Hill as the governor of Britain's remotest prison, the Egg, in Life on Egg at 7pm and 10.15pm, Jake Yapp Saves Humanity in 28 Minutes, with sketches and stand up 10.30pm and Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley stars in Ability at 11.30pm.

The Week in Westmister at 11am will also be dedicated to comedy, with a panel of comedians discussing political satire, while Hugh Dennis is a guest on Loose Ends at 6.15pm. And you can expect many more surprises throughout the day...
