BBC Scam Safe privacy notice:
This privacy notice applies to anyone who shares their scam story as part of the BBC’s Scam Safe Week. Your contribution may be used by any of programmes involved in Scam Safe week. Some of these programmes are produced by the BBC, like news and radio, the rest are produced by BBC Studios on behalf of the BBC, like Morning Live, and The One Show. The BBC and BBC Studios are the joint data controllers of your personal data, meaning we are jointly responsible for how your information is processed. As data controllers, we have a responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with data protection law. Your contribution will be initially collected by the Morning Live production team.
What information we collect and how we use it:
The BBC and BBC Studios will collect and process your video and any personal information you provide for the purpose of making content relating to Scam Safe week. This may include sensitive information that you provide within your contribution. Please ensure you have permission from any third parties that are featured within your submission. The BBC relies on public task as an organisation created to inform, educate and entertain as its lawful basis for processing your personal data. BBC Studios relies on its legitimate interests as a media organisation to process your personal information. We will not process your personal information where your rights override our interests.
Retaining your personal information:
If we decide not to use your contribution, it will be deleted within 3 months. If your contribution is used, BBC Studios and BBC may retain some information relating to your contribution in perpetuity. If you subsequently wish us to delete your contribution, you can email us at morninglive@bbc.co.uk to request this. If you provide information that is not relevant to Scam Safe week your submission will be deleted. Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA). If your data is processed outside the UK and EEA, the BBC will ensure that that it is protected to the same standards as if it were being processed within the UK and EEA.
Sharing your information within BBC Studios and the BBC Your personal information will generally be restricted to relevant members of the relevant production teams and crew, or as otherwise required by law. The BBC works with our approved third party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the BBC and not independently of the BBC, we may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.
