How Wilde was Marty in the 1950s?

Rock'n'roll legend Marty Wilde wasn't just a musical trailblazer, he was also pioneering the lifestyle!

Two years after being discovered he was apparently "touring" the country with the BBC, much to the displeasure of a disgruntled Gardeners' Question Time producer...

But Marty had plenty of time to recover after the incident in October to look fresh-faced and innocent for his appearance on The Julie Andrews Show in November 1959.

Marty went on to release 13 consecutive hit records and even met his hero Johnny Cash in California.

Marty will be presenting his own show on Saturday on Radio 2 50s, a digital-only pop up station, where he will share stories alongside favourite artists from the decade when he became a star.
