How/why did you get started in documentary film-making?
"Documentary film making has always fascinated me since a very young age.
"I am always tuned into the documentary programmes on TV, whether it is related to nature and wildlife or people and politics.
"When watching these different documentaries, I tend to analyse how the camera moved or how the editor cut to the next scene or the clarity of the sound in a busy atmosphere. Then I would practice with my own DSLR camera, researching further into aspects I wish to gain more knowledge within.
"I further branched out into present news and activities in the local area and offered my services to the local newspaper whereby I was given the opportunity to shoot a factual documentary on a local sporting idol along with many other headlining stories."
Why did you pick this subject for Fresh?
"After reading up on Fresh it made me analyse many different ideas.
"My analysis concluded that health awareness is a fast growing topic and concern in the UK. So my friend, Junaid Sheikh, and I decided to get in contact with Rendall Munroe."
"Rendall Munroe is a well known figure around the region and for us to do a video with him was great.
"We aimed to show his hard work and dedication through the visuals and to make any aspiring sportsman or women realise the hard work, dedication and passion it takes to become such an idol."
What motivated you to make this film?
"We are aware of how competitive this industry is, so we tend to take on visual work that would give us great exposure and a variety in our portfolio."
"The BBC is an established and prestigious company and a household name.
"For us to submit or film to Fresh and get through to this stage is a great achievement on its own, We aim to learn more and more as we progress and adapt it to our visuals whilst shooting or editing."
What camera did you use to shoot this film?
I used the Canon 5D and my partner used a Canon 550D.
Who/what inspires you?
"There are a lot of individuals that inspire me to continue pursuing my goal.
"I am inspired by stories of people who were just like me and now they are living the life shooting top movies, for example Steven Spielberg, Danny Boyle and Quentin Tarantino just to name a few."
What are your plans for the future?
"I decided to form a creative team called Frameworks and discussed it with my friend, Junaid Sheikh in early 2010. We believe in supporting all kinds of talent and to expose their skills on our YouTube channel.
"We slowly started to get our name out there and bring other creative individuals into our team. Our team collectively involves cameramen and graphic designers, Jamie Allsop and Nav Badyal.
"I would like to grow my creative team into a bigger platform and bring in other talented individuals. It is competitive and we all are currently students, so we have to ensure to balance our uni studies and work.
"My aim is to work for a prestigious broadcaster and become a recognised director, just like those who inspire me. I admit I am aiming high, but it is aiming high that motivates me to keep on doing what I do."
What is the most important thing you have learned so far?
"Every day I aim to learn something new but throughout my early days in this visual career, I would say lighting and sound whilst film making.
"A good setup of lighting does wonders to a visual, even if its a single lamp.
"As that can create a certain mood to the concept. With sound, the clarity has to be there to keep your audience engaged, as well as the instrumental or track you use to relate to the video."
