Every week, the Must Watch podcasters review the biggest TV and streaming shows.

This week, Hayley Campbell and Scott Bryan join Naga Munchetty to review ‘His & Hers’, ‘Wonder Man’ and ‘Michael Jackson: The Trial.’

What do the Must Watch reviewers make of them?

'Wonder Man' (Disney Plus)

Must Watch Reviews: Wonder Man

What do the Must Watch Reviewers think of Wonder Man?

Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who plays Wonder Man, also known as Simon Williams, and Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, ‘Wonder Man’ is a superhero drama series from the Marvel Comic Universe, which follows the life of aspiring actor Simon Williams, who turns into a superhero.

Love it, it's fun."

Hayley: “This is a must watch for me.”

“I think what's great about this is Wonder Man is not a popular superhero. I worked in a comic shop for years and years and no one ever asked for a Wonder Man comic. He's no one's favorite character even if you're a Marvel reader.”

Wonder Man started out as a bad guy in the 60s, fighting the Avengers, and then he ended up becoming a superhero and joining them.

"In the second episode, they go to Kingsley's character's apartment and he tells this story about how he ended up with the skull prop of Yorick from Hamlet and it made me laugh. I think that's worth the price of admission — that whole episode is.”

"And also, did you notice that Kingsley character is talking about his roles on his role on Coronation Street, he actually references Kingsley's real-life role on Coronation St?"

Scott: "So, it means that Coronation Street is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Hayley: "It is!"

"There are some deep cuts in this and the cast is incredible. Even the roles, the littler roles are played by bigger comedy people and Joe Pantoliano aka Joey Pants is in this. Love it, it's fun."

Scott: “I was able to watch this and not go, ‘oh, hang on, who's this? How am I getting to this and who are the... I didn't have to do that at all.”

“I thought the premise was really rather interesting: like basically an actor who is incredibly earnest, who's really trying to get his next part - but he turns up to set so over-prepared, over-enthusiastic that he kind of creates a bit of a tension between him and the directors and the people on set.”

“I thought it was really well acted, one pretty nuanced, and also it doesn't have to be a blockbuster.”

“It's quite understated. And I like the fact that it's quite understating as well.”

Both Scott and Hayley agreed this was a must watch.

All episodes of ‘Wonder Man’ are available to stream on Disney Plus now.

'His and Hers' (Netflix)

‘His and Hers’ is a mystery crime thriller starring Tessa Thompson as Anna, and Jon Bernthal as Detective Jack Harper.

I watched the first three episodes, then I thought, no, I want to keep going with this.”

Anna, a news reporter and her detective husband Jack Harper get caught up trying to solve a murder case.

Hayley: “This isn't a must watch for me, but I thought it was very bingeable, very stupid, and sometimes maybe accidentally funny.”

“It's very, very Netflix. Although it's better than the Harlan Coben ones that I really cannot stand.”

“I think it's obvious what's going to happen long before it happens, so it doesn't really work as a mystery thriller for me.”

“I just really don't get the Jon Bernthal character, and I'm not sure if he's supposed to be stupid or we're supposed to be stupid. It's just quite silly.”

Scott: “I think this is the TV equivalent of basically a McDonald's Happy Meal or having a Big Mac or other sorts of junk food.”

“The dialogue's quite wobbly. The plot is pretty preposterous. The chemistry between the two leads who were apparently married is completely unbelievable and nonsensical.”

“It feels as if Harlan Coben shows in comparison are a bit like a documentary compared to this. Because it has the journalistic element, it feels a bit like sort of Harlan Coben and the morning show rolled into one at one point.”

“It honestly is utterly ridiculous. But yet, I did keep watching.”

“I watched the first three episodes, then I thought, no, I want to keep going with this.”

Both Scott and Hayley didn’t think this was a must watch.

All episodes of His and Her are available to stream on Netflix now.

'Michael Jackson: The trial' (Channel 4)

Michael Jackson: The Trial is a Channel 4 documentary about Michael Jackson’s 2005 criminal trial.

It's great.”

Hayley: “It is a must watch for me.”

“I watched all four parts yesterday.”

“I didn't pay attention to the trial at the time, so this is the first time I've looked at it in any depth outside of what we were shown in bits in the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland, which was six years ago.”

“What I like about this one is it goes straight into the trial.”

“It's not one of those that bulks out the runtime with a history of who he is; it assumes we know.”

“This one gets straight to the point, and it's got a lot of footage that I haven't seen before, like tape from the county sheriff and of the raid on Neverland and also home video commissioned by Jackson for his own use.”

“And there are interviews with Jackson himself that have never been shown before.”

“I think what's interesting here is how power is wielded and what is going on behind the scenes versus what we saw as the general public.”

“It shows how Jackson pulled focus away from what was happening in the courthouse by making his arrivals and exits really dramatic.”

“It's great.”

Scott: “It is a must watch.”

“I think a big question you're having while watching this is 'why now?'. I'd say that you only have to leave the BBC, walk down the road and there’s two Michael Jackson theatre shows taking place at this current time.”

“I saw a graph during the weekend that showed that after Leaving Neverland, the record play use of his songs on the radio went right down. But now it's back up to nearly where it was before.”

“And I just found that ahead of this Michael Jackson film, there's a lot of speculation about whether it will provide a more rose-tinted view.”

“I think this looks at a time in a very sort of interesting, very well-researched, nuanced way. I thought it was meticulous in how it was put together.”

Both Scott and Hayley thought this was a must watch.

Michael Jackson: The Trial is available to watch on Channel 4, and stream online from Wednesday 4th February 2026.

Dylan wanted to recommend 'Mystery Road: Origin' series two on BBC iPlayer

'Can I recommend a wonderfully acted Aussie Noir drama currently on BBC iPlayer - "Mystery Road: Origin" series two - starring the excellent Mark Coles Smith as the indigenous Detective Jay Swan who's returned to his pregnant partner's home town of Loch Iris, harbouring sad secrets of the way aboriginal mothers and babies were treated by health and religious authorities in the past - and to some extent, today.'

Alex got in touch about series two of 'The Night Manager' on BBC iPlayer

'After watching the first two episodes of The Night Manager I was broadly in line with the reviews you gave.'

'It was decent but it wasn't living up to the admittedly high standards of the first series.'

'However, as was pointed out in the last podcast with an unwarranted degree of snark, it was fairly likely that Hugh Laurie's Richard Roper would be back one way or another.'

'So, I kept watching assuming that his presence would spice things up.'

'I'm pleased to say that for me it did.'

Craig enjoyed 'La Casel de Papel' on Netflix

'La Casel de Papel is an absolutely phenomenal heist show.'

'First two seasons cover the first main heist, with flashbacks to bring character motivations, etc. together.'

'Subsequent seasons try and recapture this and whilst good, doesn't hit the highs of the first two.'

'This is an absolutely classic heist story, so Hayley should love it!'
