Who? Presenter, Afternoon on 3 and BBC Proms

I feel incredibly lucky to be seeing first hand the spirit and passion which goes into amateur music-making up and down the UK.
Instrument? Piano
Why Get Playing? "I’m honoured to be involved in Get Playing. I’ve always loved being part of any kind of musical gang and feel incredibly lucky to be seeing at first hand the spirit and passion which goes into amateur music-making up and down the UK."
About Katie
Katie Derham is a cornerstone of classical music broadcasting at the BBC. She’s the face of BBC Proms, a regular on Radio 3, and she presents arts documentaries across television and radio (including a tribute to one of Britain’s greatest classical pianists – John Ogdon).
Katie has been presenting the BBC Proms coverage for the past six years and hosts Proms Extra on BBC Two, where she chats with guests about music, Proms highlights and recent performances.
Hugely passionate about music, Katie has always enjoyed getting stuck in whether it’s turning her hand to conducting as part of the BBC reality series Maestro, relearning the violin after 20 years for First Love on Sky Arts, or reaching the final of 2015’s Strictly Come Dancing.
