BBC Radio 3 Carol Competition 2019: Privacy Notice
Your trust is very important to us. The BBC is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information.
It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you during and after the competition, in accordance with data protection law.
Additional information can be found in the BBC’s Privacy and Cookies Policy. Where there is inconsistency between those documents and this notice, this notice shall prevail. You can find out more about your information and privacy here.
What personal information we collect and how we will use it?
The BBC is the “data controller” of the personal information you provide. This means that the BBC decides how your personal data is used. Monterosa is the BBC’s data processor and is contracted to the BBC to provide the online entry platform. This means Monterosa can only use your personal data within the parameters set by the BBC.
We will collect your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number.
The lawful basis for processing is the legitimate interests of the BBC to deliver valid and robust competitions to the BBC’s audience – for both those who take part and for those that consume content containing competitions. This yields richer and more engaging content for all of our audiences and is not an unreasonable infringement on the rights and freedoms of the individual BBC audience members.
How long we will retain your information?
If you are a winner, the BBC will retain your personal data for a period of three years following collection – for internal and external audit purposes consistent with industry standards. If you are not a winner the BBC will retain your personal data until 8 January 2020. At that point your personal data will be deleted.
Sharing your information
If you complete the online form, your data will be shared with Monterosa, a third party supplier hosting the online form on behalf of the BBC.
