Easter Monday with The Unthanks

Where better to spend Easter Monday, polishing off your artisan chocolate eggs than with BBC 6 Music and sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank of the folk sensation that is The Unthanks?

Making it a true family affair, the sisters – along with Rachel’s husband Adrian McNally - will be presenting a two-hour, Easter-themed special on Monday 6 April from 7pm. With music picked from their personal record collection, expect to hear the sounds of PJ Harvey, Ben Folds, Eliza Carthy and Louis Armstrong.

And as if that wasn’t enough; the trio have selected three hours of BBC archive documentaries and live music, plus their live music session recorded in February for Nemone (sitting in for Lauren Laverne), promising to be a fitting end to 6 Music’s Easter Folk musical odyssey.

The Unthanks are an acclaimed Northumbrian folk group. They have released eight albums since 2005, with Mount The Air being their most recent album, released in February 2015.
