Meet the presenters

Martha Kearney

Martha Kearney presents The World At One on Radio Four and has developed a reputation as one of the BBC’s most respected political journalists. In 2015 she was awarded Best Individual Contribution to Radio by The Voice of The Listener and Viewer.

Martha is also a regular presenter of BBC arts programmes. In January 2015, Martha presented The Secret World of Lewis Carroll for BBC2, a documentary unveiling previously undiscovered evidence about the author's life.

She was educated in Edinburgh and at Oxford University where she read classics.

Helen Oyeyemi

Helen Oyeyemi is the author of five novels, including White is for Witching, which won a 2010 Somerset Maugham Award, and Mr Fox, which won a 2012 Hurston/Wright Legacy Award.

In 2013, Helen was named one of Granta's Best Young British Novelists. Her story collection What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours will be published in April 2016.

Lucy Mangan

Lucy Mangan is an award-winning journalist who is currently a columnist for Stylist magazine and others and features writer for the Guardian, the Telegraph and several other publications. She is the author of four books and is currently at work on a fifth, about the history of children's literature.

She is a lifelong bookworm and almost-lifelong fan of Anne Bronte.
