Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson represented the UK for France Eurovision 1959 with "Sing, Little Birdie"

After a year out, the UK returned to being a regular contestant on Eurovision. Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson secured the UK's first ever 2nd place position with 16 points for the UK. Losing out to the Netherlands' 21 points song "Een beetje" (A little bit) sung by Ruslana.
