Last time I tackled the ever-expanding (and ever-popular) super genre of “family friendly films” for my ABC movie marathon - check it out here, go on - and this time around I’m butting heads with an equally expansive kinda-sorta-type-of movie: the action-thriller.
Explosions, excitement, car chases, thrills, spills, guns, girls, gadgets (sometimes) - you know the drill. I do have three important rules to bear in mind though: no superheroes, no sports, no Bond. Yep, I’m not messing around. I want action, I want adventure, but with clearly defined parameters, because I’m fun like that.
When you think about it, you could probably do a ABC movie marathon (more or less, with a bit of bending of the rules) on just 007 alone, so I’ve put that to one side, and while they’re thrilling in their own way, I’m swerving anything sporty, and yep, superheroes have to hang up their cape / spandex / hammers for this one as well otherwise things would really get out of hand.
So lock ‘n’ load folks and get ready for some big-screen-on-your-screen gunishment. “KABLOOOM!” and so on.
