Radio 2's Young Brass Award 2017
Terms and Conditions
How to Enter:
1. All entrants should be UK residents aged between 16-21 years on November 30th 2016. Proof of age may be requested.
2. Employees of the BBC or their close relatives or anyone connected with the competition are not eligible to enter.
3. Any player who has previously won this or any other BBC performance award is ineligible for the competition.
4. Entry forms must be accompanied by a recording lasting no longer than 10 minutes on either a CD / DVD/ Memory Stick or you can provide a download link to a video / audio file. .Recordings cannot be returned so be sure to keep a copy.
5. All performers must sign the entry form and send it to the address below, even if they are sending their music via email. Please note counter signature by a parent or guardian is required for under 18s.
6. The selection of entrants to perform at later stages may be subject to appropriate licences and school permissions being obtained if applicable.
- Stage One: short listing agreed and announced by 14th December 2016.
- Stage Two: 11th February 2017 Semi Final recorded in the Philharmonic Studio Salford –recordings sent to judges.
- Stage Three: 21st April 2017 The Grand Final broadcast live from The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester
7. The live performance stages of the competition will be recorded for transmission on the BBC and online. Entrants will be deemed to have granted to the BBC, in respect of their performances, the irrevocable right and licence to free reproduction and exhibition in all media (now known or hereafter created) throughout the world for the full period of copyright. The material chosen must therefore be suitable for broadcast on BBC Radio 2. It must not exceed 10 minutes in duration. You will be accompanied by a Championship Standard Band.
8. The BBC reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage or amend any of the terms or details of the Prize if necessary. (The prize for the winner of The Young Brass Award will be a trophy, a feature session on Listen to the Band and a broadcast performance with an established group.)
9. Entry forms and recordings must arrive by 23:59 on Wednesday 30 November 2016.
10. Entrants selected to take part in the next stage will be contacted by email or post as soon as possible after the closing date.
11. If a selected person is unable to be contacted on the email address or address supplied, or is unable to attend the next stage, the right is reserved to substitute a runner up.
12. The right is reserved to cancel the Award at any stage or amend any of the terms or details of the Prize.
13. The BBC, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any failure in the postal system, any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem which may result in an entry not properly registered.
