Alesha Dixon was tonight crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion 2007 on BBC One. Singer Alesha and actor Matt D'Angelo performed five dances for the judges and viewers' vote. Matt and Flavia: American Smooth Salsa Judges' Choice – Quickstep Viennese Waltz Showdance Alesha and Matthew: Waltz Cha Cha Judges Choice – Jive Viennese Waltz Showdance But it was Alesha that triumphed in the end. Alesha Dixon said: "I'm over the moon, I can't believe it. I feel like I'm going to wake up tomorrow morning and it was just a dream and not reality. "It was worth all the bruises, all the lack of sleep, all the painful cuts and sore joints, all the tears and all the 380 hours of training. "I did it for the girls. I have spent more time with Matthew than with any of my family. I'm going to keep dancing for the girls – and with Matthew if that's okay." Matthew Cutler said: "I can't believe I've won, it's a dream come true. I can't believe it. She's worked so hard. She deserves it. Alesha has been amazing to work with. For a world champion to win so many competitions this is the ultimate title to win. "We've been training from ten in the morning until ten at night. I'd like to thank Alesha for being so dedicated." Runner-up Matt D'Angelo said: "I wanted to win but it didn't happen on the night. Alesha's a phenomenal dancer and I'm really happy for her. "It's been loads of fun and I've had a good time and that's the main thing. I hope that young people out there go out and dance." KH/CS |
