Twenty-year-old Iyanuoluwa Olowokunlepe bin grow up for her community witout experiencing wetin be electricity.

Dis na di reality of many children wey dey live for Araromi-Obu, Odigbo local goment area of Ondo state.

Iyanuoluwa wey live all her childhood for Araromi-Obu dey challenged wit di issue of electricity wey no dey her community even as she dey helep her mama wit hairdressing work.

Araromi-Obu community wey get about 4000 hectares of rubber plantation, large palm oil plantation and cocoa plantation but e dey threatened by darkness for over one decade now sake of say dem disconnect dia electricity comot for di national grid.

For about 16-years wey dem don disconnect electricity comot for Araromi-Obu, businesses dey struggle.

Many business owners don close-down sake of say dem no see electricity to sustain dia work.

Sadly, di few businesses wey dey try survive for Araromi-Obu still dey struggle since dem no get electricity wey go make dia work easy.

Tunde Adenikinju na one of di few youths wey dey into barbing business for Araromi-Obu.

Unlike im counterparts wey dey always get customers for night, Tunde dey quick close shop since electriciity no dey wey go make am attend to customers for night.

"I no fit work as I suppose to work. I dey always go charging canter to plug, pay money and I go use my clipper for like four heads becos I charge am wit generator and e don already weak."

One of di many problems wey Tunde get be say e dey always close im shop bifor 7pm everyday sake of say everiwia go don become dark and customers no fit show up again.

Anoda business woman wey dey struggle to keep business alive na Timilehin Inumidun. She be fashion designer for Araromi-Obu and she don dey di business since 13 years ago but lack of electricity na her biggest problem.

Di Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources for Ondo state, Razaq Obe tell BBC News Pidgin say di issue of vandalism and inadequate substation na di major setbacks.

"Di issue be say we get inadequate distribution infrastructure, substation no also dey available to supply power to go dat neighbourhood. We also get issue of vandalism and na big issue."

E get one project wey dey commenced about 12 years ago for Erinje power sub station and awaiting di president commission. Once e dey commissioned, di area go get light again.

"We dey anticipate say e no go take long to reconnect but we engage di contractors wey tell us say dem still dey owe am. Di trouble na to get di powerlines and connect dem, and we don write give di president already," di commissioner add.
