Ouch! Special Report

Education, social life and independent living come into sharp focus at this point in the life of a young disabled person going to university. Read the diaries of Ciaran, Sara and Ruth for insights into their anxieties and the solutions they found in their new lives as students.

Education, social life and independent living come into sharp focus at this point in the life of a young disabled person going to university. Read the diaries of Ciaran, Sara and Ruth for insights into their anxieties and the solutions they found in their new lives as students.

Ciaranis a wheelchair user studying English and Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. He likes Indie rock and his dream job would be writing for the music magazine NME.

Sara has albinism, is visually impaired and is studying Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham. She is moving into student halls, sharing a house with 4 other girls.

Ruth has Nail Patella Syndrome and is studying Medicine at the University of Leeds. Appropriately enough, she's also a big fan of TV medical drama ER.
